Choosing a stroller - tips for young parents.

Choosing a stroller - tips for young parents.

13 February 2019

For the first half of the year, children go for a walk lying on a soft feather bed, surrounded by the care of their parents and all kinds of rattles, reliably protected from the wind and curious glances. But as the baby grows, he just needs to change vehicles and switch to a stroller.

Changing the format of transport stimulates the strengthening of the baby's spine:

in addition, during a walk, the kid observes the surrounding riot of colors, compares actions, events and sounds, which contributes to his harmonious development.

It's a small matter to choose a stroller that is perfect for you and your child.

And this is exactly what our material today will be devoted to.

The first thing to remember is that appearance is far from the most important aspect influencing the choice of a product.

You should not deliberately focus on a certain type of folding, advertising, or recommendations from friends without taking into account all the factors that affect the comfort of use. In this article, we have systematized the main recommendations for choosing a “walk” in order of importance,

so that you definitely do not lose your choice.

First of all, we think about the comfort and safety of the child.

When choosing a stroller, pay attention to every detail: the strength of the frame, the quality and density of the fabric;

the reliability of the folding system and the braking system. Are there any sharp corners and protruding parts in the stroller within the reach of the baby?

Won't she turn over if the baby gets angry? Check the stiffness level of the backrest and the width of the seat. Feel free to sniff the fabric,

feel the seams and ask the seller for a quality certificate - its availability is mandatory.

Take into account the coming season - if the baby finds it cold during walks, then a thick foot cover is required;

if the rainy season is coming, a raincoat is required (or purchase it separately), in summer - a mosquito net

and a hood with fabric protecting from ultraviolet radiation.

The second most important factor is convenience for mom, because no matter how much dad pays attention to the baby, it is mom who is the child's “personal driver" most of the time. Pay attention to the weight, handling and balance of the stroller - no matter how long the walk lasts, mom should not feel tired. Check whether the wheels of the stroller are fixed in a straight position - even if you live in a megalopolis, it's not a fact that the path will run exclusively along the sidewalk, and the motion locks will make the ride softer for the child.

To check the balance, try to drive into a small obstacle (after putting the baby in the stroller) - the load on the hands should be minimal. The height of the handle should correspond to height, and it is better to adjust it.

Before going to the showroom or making an order online, we recommend measuring the width of the doorways in the apartment, the entrance to the elevator - it will be very inconvenient if the stroller turns out to be wider.

And only now have we come to an important aspect - the types of strollers. As you know, strollers, depending on the type of folding, are divided into books and canes, and each format has its own advantages. Let's list the main ones:

The book stroller is folded in half in the middle by simple manipulations. They have a stable solid back, they quickly "assemble" - some books have a one-handed folding and unfolding system. The folded book stroller stands unsupported and takes up less space. The book-type stroller design allows you to implement more additional “buns”, such as a height-adjustable handle, an enlarged shopping basket, etc.

Walking stick strollers weigh less than their counterparts, including ultralight summer strollers (4 kg each). When folded, the cane is narrow but long - the stroller fits only diagonally in the trunk of a car, but it is more convenient to place the cane in public transport. It is undesirable to operate a cane with one hand, but nevertheless, the main advantages of such a design are weight and affordable price.

“And which type of stroller is preferable?” - you may ask. And the one that will be optimal and most convenient for you and your child! If it is convenient for you to go outside / get home with a stroller and a child; if the baby is warm and comfortable in the stroller, and the transport itself behaves predictably on the road, then we congratulate you on the right choice.

But remember the rules that will ensure the safety of the child and the integrity of the product!

Assemble the stroller only as shown in the instructions to avoid breakage, and if something does not fit, it is better not to use force, but see if you have folded the hood, whether the footrest is lowered, as indicated in the instructions.

It is not necessary to overload the stroller in excess of the weight stated by the manufacturer, the same applies to the basket.

In any case, do not hang a heavy bag on the handle of the stroller, do not tie animals on a leash to the stroller!

Leaving the baby out of sight even for a few seconds - put the stroller on the brake! Especially if the road goes downhill.

Like any other vehicle, a wheelchair also needs care. We recommend periodically removing and rinsing the wheels from sand and dust - this will save you from creaking during driving and bearing wear. If the wheels are inflated, check how inflated they are.

I hope our recommendations are really useful to you.

That's all for today. See you soon on the Carrello blog!
