Mom, the stroller, and me. Five stories about almost adult life

21 January 2024

All girls are such... girls. They are different, emotional, sometimes incomprehensible and complex. But everyone strives to be like their main idols, their mothers. They paint their nails in all the colors of the rainbow, cook porridge from sand, make face masks from cucumber circles.
And the main girly “like-mom" is actually being a mom. For a red-haired doll, for a chubby baby doll, or for a soft stuffed animal. Being a mom means taking care of a child, doing everything for him to be warm, good and cozy in this world ...

The first step into the open... world

In the morning, the aroma of cocoa and vanilla toasts filled the house. Mom kissed Dasha on her sleepy cheek: “Wake up, my little princess.”.. It seems to be an ordinary morning.… But still, something was different, something new was in the air.

Oh yeah!!! Dasha's sleep was gone. Padding across the parquet with her bare feet, she began to look for her mother. After all, she was discharged from the hospital yesterday!!!

Dasha quietly went to the door of her parents' bedroom and opened it a crack. For some reason, it became scary to go further. Then mom came up from behind, took her daughter by the hand. “Come on, let's say hello."

The room, which was very familiar to Dasha, was somehow different. No, it's not even about the white four-poster bed - it appeared about a month ago. But it just felt... somehow important what was happening in their little world.

Dasha looked at her sleeping brother. “How tiny he is! He's no bigger than my Rita doll!” She instantly imagined him in her doll carriage.

“We're going out together tonight, aren't we?” Mom smiled and nodded.

The plan of the walk was built by itself. Okay, let's be honest: he's been ready ever since his “sister” came home Dashka's doll carriage is a large Carrello Omega, bought for the then-unborn Vanya.

After all, what kind of walks were they before - with girlfriends who have the same rubber dolls. And now there will be real “mother daughters”!

Even their strollers are somewhat similar. Mom has 2 in 1 Omega + and Dasha 2 in 1 - Fortuna. So far, both cradles have been installed, because brother Vanya and doll Rita are still very young and crumbs. The handle is adjustable in both strollers, there is a reversible block and swivel wheels. “When my children and my mother grow up, we will install walking blocks for them! It's going to be autumn, and there's beauty in the park!”

While we were packing, Dasha compared the convenient bags for all sorts of small things on both strollers. I went through the imaginary list of “what to take for a walk” in my head and thought that the bag in her stroller was much prettier than in my mother's real one...

Dasha's thoughts were interrupted by her mother's: “Honey, Vanya and I are ready. And you and Rita? I've already asked my dad to take our strollers to the first floor...”

How to become Superman's granddaughter

“I'm not going anywhere! Kristina buried her nose in the pillow. The door swung open and Grandpa's worried face appeared immediately.:  “Who hurt my girl?!”.

The granddaughter smeared tears on her cheeks and wrapped her arms around her grandfather's neck. “Grandpa, they only let me take three toys with me to the sea. And how can I leave the hippopotamus Vasya or the purple duck?? And the stuffed panda?! And Cindy's doll?? I'm their mom!!!”

“Means so. Vasya, panda and duck will stay with me. By the way, they don't take me to the sea either, and I'm not offended at all. And take Cindy, you'll take her in your stroller along the embankment.”

“No, Grandpa, they won't let me take a doll's stroller! She's big. And Dad says that the car is already bursting at the seams!”

“Your dad's talking nonsense. Besides, he doesn't know that your Carrello Avanti 2 in 1, which I gave you yesterday, folds up easily - it won't take up more space than Dad's flippers. Don't take the cradle from the stroller -your Cindy already knows how to sit.”

In a few movements, Grandpa replaced the cradle in the stroller with a walking block. And then, with another movement, he folded it like a book.

“Wow, how did you do that? Kristina looked at the old man with undisguised admiration. - You are the best grandfather in the world!”

“The best granddaughter in the world can't have another one," his eyes were shining. ”Feed your Cindy, and I'll go show your parents how to get ready for the road... at the same time I'll check if they've coped with an adult stroller."

The displeased voice of Kristina's dad was heard from the kitchen: “Kirill Petrovich, do you really take us for children?” And immediately Mom's: “Don't argue, Dad wants the best! So he took it and bought us two strollers at once for a vacation - an adult and a baby!”

“Christina looked into the kitchen and saw her grandfather, who was tinkering with a stroller. - We press the buttons on the handle and the stroller folds itself!”

The stroller folded up in grandpa's hands and began to take up four times less space.

“Meet us! Delta is called! I spent half a day in the store while I was choosing! Maloy, over there, also bought it for her doll. Well, is there any doubt that everyone will get into the car? Aw, anyway, let's go, I'll show you how to put things right...”

Dentist for tiger cub

Well, who invented dental treatment!?! Alice had been pretending for half an hour that she was getting dressed to go to the clinic. “To the dentist," Mom said. We know these dentists… Well, yes, it almost doesn't hurt. But this machine is buzzing so terribly!

“Did you sleep well, Borya? Alice returned to the room, to her favorite stuffed tiger in striped pants. "Today we will go to the doctor, Borenka, and your teeth will be treated.” It's very, very scary, but very necessary. After that, I'll buy you strawberry ice cream, it helps a lot from all the unpleasant things.

“Are you worried?” Mom ran her hand through her daughter's red hair."

“Me? "No," the girl replied unconvincingly, "I'm all grown up, it's Borka who's worried."… I already promised him ice cream.”

“Of course, there will be ice cream, my dears, and a huge box of fruit marshmallows. Get ready!- Mom kissed Alice on top of her head and stroked Borya behind the ear.

Alice finally began to put on her shoes

“Aren't we taking Borka's stroller? Mom asked.

“Can I? Alice's eyes sparkled.

“It is necessary! Mom smiled. - Yours Carrello Magia is called that for a reason. Just install a car seat instead of a cradle, okay? You weren't going to take Borka in a car with his seat belt off...”

“Well... I...” Alice looked at her mother with a smile.

“All the passengers in my car, both big and small, must be safe. By the way! I drove you the same way a couple of years ago. My Ultimo is still with us - I'll show you everything now. Take Borka, the car seat, and let's go to the car”

Mom took out a car seat from the pantry, just like hers, but bigger. When they were already in the parking lot, she began to install a cradle in the back seat, behind the driver's seat.:

“Look, there's a snap to fasten it! - That's it. You've been riding in it with me for over a year, but I couldn't quit my job then. I was running around with you, just like you are with Borka now))) If it wasn't for my Optima, I don't know what I would have done. And so there's a cradle, and a car seat, and a walking block, in which you still sometimes ride when I'm in a hurry...

Well, we're late! Come on, give me your Boy in the car seat, and we'll put him right here, right in yours. Look: if a child is as small as your tiger cub, he should only drive headfirst in a car, as the safety rules dictate. That's it, jump into your car seat and let's go to the clinic.

…Three smiling patients entered the doctor's office - a beautiful adult mother, a very beautiful adult girl, and an unintelligent tiger cub, who was no longer afraid of the buzzing machine or the scary word “dentist."

When the right decision is made

Sitting in the dim kitchen, Marina had been stirring non-existent sugar in a cup of coffee with a spoon for half an hour. Her thoughts, one after another, revolved around the dilemma that had appeared yesterday - whether a new job and moving to another city would change her and Lisa's lives for the better, whether it would be stressful for her girl with such a delicate and sensitive psyche.

Marina quietly went to the door and opened it a crack, looking into Lisa's room.

She was just feeding her daughter: “And now, my daughter, we're going to eat blokli and amakado,“ the girl took turns taking out plastic green broccoli and avocado and offering them to her doll to try.

The doll didn't really like healthy food, and Lisa patiently - like a mother -told her “daughter" about the importance of such food and urged her to try at least a small piece. Marina giggled softly, recognizing herself in the little mother.

Then Lisa, the teacher, sat down with a whole crowd of soft pets and “read” Little Red Riding Hood, which she already knew by heart. But I still turned the pages to make the “reading" look more convincing.

“And now we need to hurry, my child, we may miss the plane!” Lisa said, who suddenly had a new idea for the game, and immediately began packing clothes, dishes, and all the useful plastic vegetables that her “daughter” hadn't finished into the doll carrier bag.

Marina watched as Lisa deftly and thoughtfully packed her things in an adult way, and then, straightening the mattress, put the doll in the stroller, kissing her on the forehead (“My little copy," Marina smiled). She shook her head slightly, lowered her hood, and adjusted the knob. Just like an adult.

Marina remembered how long she had doubted which one to buy, looking closely at doll strollers, when Lizonka grew up and began to show a very active interest in the games of the “daughter-mother". I reviewed a bunch of “simpler and cheaper" options. It was only when I saw the Carrello Gloria stroller that I realized that this was the one I would have liked to receive as a gift myself when I was little. A small copy of a full-fledged baby carriage, which every girl turns into a mother by taking the handle. A sturdy, reliable frame, a folding chassis, high-quality cladding material, a height-adjustable handle, and a roomy purse - all this dispelled Marina's doubts in an instant.

She went to the mirror, looked at her reflection and smiled at him. Then I took out my phone and found the airline number I needed.

“Two tickets, one for children and one for adults, please...”

Men's business

It was noisy in the nursery. Petya and Masha, the girl next door, had already finished playing hide-and-seek, folded and scattered the puzzles with Peppa pig for the fourteenth time, knocked down a narrow one-and-a-half-meter lego tower and were just at the transitional stage of “what would we play”.

Vadim was not in the habit of eavesdropping on children's conversations and tried in every possible way not to violate the personal space of his 5-year-old son. But sometimes the dialogues were so funny...

“I'm not going to play mother daughter! I'm not a girl! Petya protested. Masha, it turns out, has proposed a new game.

“My kid,” Vadim tried to focus on the news line on his phone again, but it didn't work.

Masha muttered something resentfully and rattled her toys. It looks like she's packing them into a doll carriage she dragged from home.

“Oh, these women... - Vadim smiled again. "Petya won't fall for such manipulations.”

Mom, the stroller, and me. Five stories about almost adult life 9

“Okay, let's play. - The son suddenly gave out. ”But I'm not going to change her diapers."

Masha wisely agreed with her “husband.” But she immediately gave it out, clearly copying what she had heard at home:

“Okay, dear. Get some rest, because you're tired at work. In the meantime, I'll turn on the laundry and cook dinner. Then you can hang up the laundry, wash the dishes, and take a walk with your daughter.”

There was no response from Petya, but apparently, the “husband” ... agreed!

“Nothing,” thought Vadim. And he put down his phone. He sat for a long time, thinking about something. He looked into the kitchen, where his beloved wife was cooking lasagna. The younger one was sitting next to him in a high chair, spreading banana puree on the tabletop with his chubby hands.

Heading back to the children's room, Vadim stopped at Danka's new stroller. The good thing about this Ultra is the rubber wheels, the steep tread, the handle is adjustable, and it dampens like an all-terrain vehicle.… Vadim touched the pleasant fabric. “It's been a long time since I've been out with a kid...”

Vadim listened again. In the nursery, Petya confidently and like a man told Masha: look, the handle is adjustable here! But like this, look, you have instructions - you can fold it. Unico, by the way, is called. She's got a lot of fun stuff here, and I need to ask my dad to help me figure it out. And you, Masha, go and cook!

Vadim entered the kitchen and took the baby, stained from head to toe, out of the high chair: “Honey, wash this for me... this. We're going for a walk with him!”
